Guess what folks? Wednesday officially concluded the end of my pediatric level one fieldwork! Woot woot!
Don't get me wrong. My fieldwork experience wasn't too bad but who doesn't like to finish and be done with something you had to work your butt off at. :P
This has been a week of learning things:
1. You can think you have no idea what you are doing and still get a halfway decent grade on things.
-A wonder of the world. :P
2. All because other people are doing something, doesn't mean you should do it.
-Okay, so we all have learned this one before. I had to teach it to some kindergarteners on Wednesday even but every once in awhile you realize that you are falling into this trap again. Whether everyone's doing it does not make it right or justified and sometimes we need to be reminded of this.
3. You should stay on top of your housework.
-Last week I did, it was great. :) This week I didn't. Now I have a nice pile of dirty dishes and a messy room I need to clean before I can go home in the morning. I much prefer the way I handled my chores last week. :P
4. You know that feeling you get that you should not Facebook stalk the person that you are about to FB stalk? Listen to that feeling.
-Seriously, almost every time I do it I end up sad or angry. Today was no exception. In the words of Coach Carr: "Just don't do it." :P
Here are the good things of this week:
1. Field Work Is Over!
-It's worth repeating. :P
2. My big treatment plan for peds has been completed.
-Another big project out of the way. :)
My brain has gone blank and I cannot think of anymore but I would say it was a decent week. Now I need to go clean my dishes and take out my trash so that they don't sit gross all weekend and I can start next week fresh.
Thanks for reading. :)

Hmmm....
Hey Guys,
My life can kind of be described by today's title because that is the thought that comes to mind most often lately.
For example, why were the children at my fieldwork site off the wall the last two days? Hmmm. Also, today I learned early November first graders do not know how to count by twos. Hmmm. How am I passing my peds class right now? (I feel completely lost in that class.) Hmmm. :P
So I think you get the point.
Here are the good things about the last few days.
1. Only two days left of my level 1 pediatric fieldwork. :)
-Will be one less thing to worry about.
2. Pulled a B on my peds treatment plan 1. :)
-Woot! Now if I can pull a B on treatment plan 2 I will be golden.
3. Caught up on laundry.
-I hadn't did it in like 3 weeks, it was bad. :P
4. Managed to not hit my alarm for a full half hour in the morning and to make my bed everyday this week.
-I've been taking advantage of my body not being adjusted to the new time schedule yet. :)
5. Managing to do my dishes each day.
-A major feat. Now to get off my butt and continue it today. ;)
Thanks for reading. :)

I Would Totally Marry Him and Have His Babies
Hi Friends,
So I love, love, love romance novels. They are my not-so-secret strange love. I love how they give you the warm fuzzy feelings as you watch the relationship between the hero and the heroine unfold and when they realize they are in love with each other and finally get together. I don't do dark romance or romance that feels like the author wrote it for the sole purpose of writing sex-scenes, I need happy endings and good story/character development. I am very picky.
So, why am I writing this post? Well, there is a new web series titled, Emma Approved. It's based on Jane Austen's book Emma and it has potential. To help me understand where the story is going, since I haven't read Emma and it's been awhile since I saw the movie, I decided to watch the BBC version of Emma. It is amazing and I am in love with Mr. Knightly. I would totally marry him and have his babies. :P
Emma is written by Jane Austen. Austen is one of my all time favorite authors. She was an amazing author. The more I read her books, the more I like her. My two favorite books by her are Persuasion and Pride and Prejudice. I would totally marry the heroes from those two books as well. :P
Here are the good things of the last few days.
1. Watching BBC version of Emma.
-I enjoyed this version so much better than the version with Gwyneth Paltrow. You can watch it on YouTube if you are interested. :P
2. Work went well. :)
-Always a good thing. :P
3. Cleaned 80% of my dorm room.
-My room was a disaster area, no where near as bad as my room at home but bad. :P Now it's much better. :) Now, if I could just get my laundry done. ;)
Thanks for reading.

Mark It On Your Calendar
Hey Friends,
Mark it on your calendar, I was productive today! You're totally shocked I know. Your shock and excitement will be dimmed, however, when I tell you that one of the things that I did today may or may not have been due last Wednesday. I kind of, sort of, forgot about it until Thursday and when I looked at it it was a lot more complicated than I anticipated so I did what I do best and procrastinated about it (it was already late :P). And the world will go on. :P
I hope you are all doing well. I know I have been really bad about updating my blog. It's been a rough school year so far. Definitely first world problem status for most of it but it's still been tough. It doesn't help that my grandfather passed away at the end of August. I miss him a lot. I used to call him most nights and I will feel like I am forgetting something because I can't call him anymore. His death also caused me to think about my sister, Constance. Even though it's been 1 year 7 months since my sister passed away it still gets to me, especially around the 23 to 26 of each month. It's like my body has it's own internal clock that makes me down and I wonder why until I stop to think about it.
I spent most of September not feeling like myself. I feel more like myself now but there is always room for improvement. I really need to go back to focusing on the positive. My friend asked me why I didn't write anymore and I told her that I just have felt kind of blah so writing about it seemed silly. Maybe that's the problem though. Maybe I should write more often so that I can focus on the positive and maybe I'll stop feeling so blah. :P We can always hope :)
Since I prefer short blog post to both write and read I'll move to the good things of the last few days now.
1. I enjoyed driving home early in the morning Friday.
-I get up at 5:30 to leave by 6am. It's great. Not only do I avoid heavy traffic but I am not exhausted like I am on Thursday evenings. Plus since I get right up and going I don't feel I'm wasting my day away either.
2. Spending time with my siblings offspring.
-This weekend I got to spend time with both my baby niece and my baby nephew. They are getting so big and they are so fun. I much prefer them to anyone elses babies. :P
3. Got my grades for my half semester class.
-Not only is that class done, I reached my at least a B goal. ;)
4. Was productive today.
-An accomplishment in itself. ;)
Thanks for reading.
Blessings,
Veronica
P.S. Michelle, I hope this blog post makes you smile. :)

Like A Rainbow
Hi Friends,
Hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine was pretty good. Not long enough but not too bad.
I have a story that I hope will give you a chuckle. :P
This weekend I was singing Miley Cyrus's new song. I was unaware of the title and just knew the chorus. At least I thought I knew the chorus.
I thought she said "I came out like a rainbow." Aaron quickly interrupted me and informed me that the lyrics are "I came out like a wrecking ball." I laughed so hard I choked on the water I was drinking. :P
Apparently I need my ears checked. :P
BTW, the title of the song is "Wrecking Ball".
Here are the good things from the last few days.
1. Doing better than expected on a paper.
2. Having a said better grade to balance out not so good grade I got on a quiz.
-It was an open book and I still didn't do that well. *Note to self: Peds is not for you* :P I don't care though. Our class mantra is "strive for the B" and I am happy to embrace it. :)
3. Getting to spend time with my nieces and nephew.
Have a good one! Thanks for reading!

Veronica

Shhhh. I Should Be Doing Homework.
Hi Friends,
So I should be doing homework but surprise, surprise, that isn't happening. Don't worry, I am well aware of what a poor life decision I am making at the moment and know the consequences of my actions. :P So since I am doing what I do best and procrastinating, I might as well write in my blog that has been neglected for months now.
It was a hectic summer and has been a hectic school year so I haven't posted but today is as good a time as any right? ;)
So before I run out of steam and neglect blogging for another month here are the good things about my day today so far:
1. Not having to get up for an 8am class.
-I live on campus and still have a hard time. :P
2. This conversation:
Me: Hey, I had a dream I worked for the president.
Mom: That sounds more like a nightmare.
3. I had to bribe my niece with M&Ms to get her to give me a hug and kiss.
-This doesn't sound like a good thing but she is one of those children that prefers her independence and is not a big cuddler. She's been sick a lot lately and as a result really cuddly. The fact that I had to bribe her means she is feeling better.
4. Reading to my niece.
-Despite her not liking to cuddle, she does like to be read to. I enjoy reading to her.
5. Finishing a good book.
-In my procrastination today I finished one of my fun-read books. The story was sweet which always brightens my day a little.
Thanks for reading.
Have a great day and hope you are all productive at whatever you need to do. :)
Blessings,
Veronica

The Last Couple Weeks
Hey Guys,
So I finally broke my second new years resolution and didn't post at least once last week. Oh no! The world is coming to an end! ;) You know because my life is oh so interesting. :P
Last week was an obnoxious week. I hated our summer classes and unfortunately the one is not over yet but I get a short break before I have to deal with it again. Also my fieldwork was looking like it might not work out which had me on edge. I was also just having a bad couple of weeks in general. I always miss my sister Constance, every single day, but it was worse during those couple of weeks. I'm not really sure why, it just was.
On the brightside, this week was better. My fieldwork worked out. I'm there now and it's going better than expected. It's just been nice to be home and not be in class for an obnoxious amount of hours. My drive isn't even as bad as I expected. I have to count street lights when I drive across the arterial (there are 5 btw) to helps keep my unreasonable street light anxiety but that's neither here nor there. ;)
Here are the good things from the last couple of weeks.
1. Playing blind tag with my brothers.
-Apparently I look like an elderly zombie when I run with my eyes closed. I also laughed so hard while playing, I couldn't run anymore.
2. Having an IPod read song lyrics to you.
-Next to hearing a small child sing a sound, nothing makes you realize how ridiculous a song is. :P
3. No more random, stupid, annoying papers for a few more weeks.
4. Just feeling a lot more at peace than I have in the last few weeks.
-The last few weeks have been really bad. I just didn't feel like myself and I was very stressed. Much of my stress is gone and I feel more like myself. It's just nice. :)
Hope everyone is doing well.
Blessings,
Veronica

Having Faith in Humanity
Hi Everyone,
Hope you are doing well. Interestingly enough, what sparked my idea for this post was a reality TV show and a blog post.
I don't like reality TV because usually it's not really reality but a show that caught my attention today is The Little Couple. The couple Bill and Jen are kind of inspirational. They both have a form of dwarfism but they have achieved so much in their lives. This is not to say that I would think because they have dwarfism that they are not capable of accomplishing what they have accomplished but they had all the obstacles that comes from dwarfism in addition to the normal obstacles everyone faces. Bill is a business owner and Jen is a neonatologist. I think Jen is amazing because I think it would be hard enough to get through med school without having to deal with the issues of height. Maybe I'm naive but I can imagine that she had to deal with a lot of inconsiderate people, not only because of her height (3'2") but because she is a woman. I can imagine she had a lot of people not take her serious because of both. This little couple also adopted a little boy from China with dwarfism and are in the process of adopting a little girl from India who also has dwarfism. I think it is awesome that they have opened their hearts to these two children. It is quite the commitment to have a child, to adopt a child even greater, and to adopt a child with special needs greater still.
Another thing that I saw today that made me think about this was a blog post a friend shared on Facebook. The post, titled 'How to Talk to Little Girls,' talked about how we tend to focus on a little girl's looks when we talk to her instead of her intelligence. The author talked about how all females, from childhood to adulthood, seem to focus on our looks, girls younger than 3rd grade thinking they are fat, college women saying they would prefer to be hot than smart. Let's face facts, this is a problem. I know this doesn't look like restoration in humanity but I think that the author gives hope for tomorrow by giving you some ideas of how to talk to little girls, like asking her about the books she is reading. I think it shows you there is potential for us to end this obsession we females have with our bodies. :)
If you want to restore your faith in humanity in five minutes or less just search faith in humanity on pinterest or check out Buzzfeed's '26 Moments That Restored Our Faith in Humanity This Year.' They are all pretty awesome but this one is really sweet:
Reading the news headlines can be very stressful. It seems there is bad everywhere, and in reality there is but for every bad person out there, there is 100 people who do the right thing, for every bad situation there is almost always a silver lining no matter how small.
Here are the good things that have happened to me over the last few days.
1. That my former teacher is still willing to recertify me in CPR and saved my butt the other day.
-He saves me a lot of money every year because the cost of a renewal class is obnoxious. He even saved me from having to be certified by twice by two organizations when I ran into a problem with my cpr and he saved me by sending an email stating I was certified but my card was still being processed when I needed proof for fieldwork. It's really awesome that he does this for his former students.
2. Work went really well.
-My job can be really stressful for various reasons but somedays just go so well that I remember why I do it. Where else can I sing really bad renditions of Taylor Swift songs and pretend to be a bad driver and have another person enjoy it? ;)
3. That fieldwork worked out.
-Due to a miscommunication and a problem with paperwork it was a tense half of the week when there was a potential for my fieldwork to fall through but it looks like it will work out now.
4. I didn't fail my test Friday.
-I didn't do well but I didn't fail. In my book that is a win. Life happens and sometimes school work is affected but I will work harder next time. :)
5. Had a nice weekend.
-Got to spend quality time with my family. The weather was nice. Work went well. Drive back to school wasn't too bad. Got my paper for school done. I rule it a win. :)
Hope this post made sense. Have a great week.
Thanks for reading.
Blessings,
Veronica

Off your game? I'm there.
Hey Everyone,
Forewarning: This is going to be a Debbie Downer post.
Basically, my entire week has sucked. It's been a Murphy's Law kind of week. I would go into more detail but I've been told oversharing on the internet is a bad thing especially since potential employers apparently have nothing better to do than stalk you on the internet.
Through all the bad there are still some good things that happened this week.
Here are this weeks good things.
1. Having my mom allow me to vent and cry to her on the phone.
-My mom is pretty great and she not only allowed me to cry and vent but she allowed me to do it and just listened till the end. She also didn't correct me when I became irrational and sometimes you just need that. I felt a lot better afterwards.
2. Having friends that text you and make you feel better.
-Thanks Melanie and Jaclyn. :)
3. Going grocery shopping.
-Grocery shopping can be very calming activity for me and it was this time. It's kind of weird but that's me. ;) I really like food, especially healthy food, and I refuse to chastise myself on the amount of money I spend on grocery shopping maybe that's why it's calming. :)
Hope everyone is having a better week than me! Here's to hoping next week is better.
Blessings,
Veronica

Even In My Dreams I Am Too Nice
Hi Everyone,
I have a funny story to tell you. I have, in the past, been accused of being too nice. This may be on occasion be true but I want to tell you about a dream that shows that one of my dream alter egos is definitely too nice.
In my dream, I was dating this really cute guy (he doesn't actually exist in real life to my knowledge). We were pretty serious, he had even given me this really beautiful necklace. It turns out, however, that he wasn't so nice.
In the dream, I somehow found out that he was married. I didn't freak out or anything. I was hurt but not really mad. I rescued my necklace out of the sink drain that it had somehow fallen down (my dreams rarely make sense), cleaned it up, and wrapped it up nice. I then broke up with him by simply telling him we were over and giving him the necklace to give to his wife. There was no scene made, we were at the library, I just broke up with him and walked away. That was the dream.
First of all, that was weird. Second of all, OMG, I was so nice. Obnoxiously nice. Who does that? Maybe it means that I was being the bigger person but still.
To all the douchebags out there, don't take this as a sign you can dupe me. I'm not as nice as my dream self is and I have a family that includes 3 brothers that will kick your butt if I don't. To everyone else, you can interpret this dream how you please. I thought it was too outlandish to keep to myself and wanted to share it with everyone else.
Hope it gave you a chuckle. :)
Blessings,
Veronica

Welcome to Summer School
Hi Everyone,
To begin, thank God that He protects fools. I made a really stupid error in judgement when it came to a yellow light. Had it been a rainy day or other cars had been behind me, I would have caused an accident but as it is, I only scared myself. It's so easy to make a mistake when driving, or doing most anything really. One stupid error and everything can be over. Luckily for us, most of our mistakes do not have major consequences.
So tomorrow begins summer classes. The only good thing about summer class is that we are beginning to learn about occupational therapy in pediatrics. We haven't learned anything about pediatrics yet so it should be interesting but it's going to be a b*tch.
Today was kind of an off day. I think it was the weather, although it never did rain. It's funny how the weather can affect our mood and feelings. I just felt kind of awkward and off.
Here are today's good things:
1. Made it to school safely despite my bad judgement.
-My bad judgement reminds me of this scene from Dead Like Me's episode Vacation, viewable on this video from 1:30-2:08. ;)
2. Let my brother, Ben, drive me to my grandfather's. For it being his first time driving my car, he did a pretty good job.
3. My family and I had a really interesting/ funny conversation during lunch today. The subject was completely lunch table inappropriate but some of the best conversations are. ;)
4. Revenge had an interesting cliffhanger.
-I finally watched the finale of Revenge. It was actually pretty depressing but the cliffhanger was crazy so I'm excited for the next season even though I'm mad about what they did to some of the characters. :P
Thank you for reading.

Vacation is Coming to an End
Hi Friends,
Unfortunately school resumes on Monday. I have had a decent time the last 2 weeks avoiding school related anything. :P
Here are some of the good things about the last week:
1. This conversation I had with my mom: Setting I'm in the living room watching TV and she is in the kitchen.
Me: Oh No!
Mom: What's wrong?
Me: Nothing, just talking to the TV.
Mom: Oh, okay. Be afraid when the TV talks back. :P
2. Watching my niece master the concept of going down the slide.
-It's really cool to introduce her to something new and to watch her mind work as she masters the task. :)
3. Work went well.
4. Avoiding school.
-'nuff said
5. Having things unexpectedly work out.
-I had some problems with requirements for my field work site but it looks like everything worked out. :)
6. Pinterest.
-It's a fun way to waste time on the internet. :P
7. NCIS
-I've only watched 2 and 1/2 seasons out of 9 so I haven't been a complete couch potato. ;) Also, the season 10 finale was excellent. :P
Well, there you have it. My life has been pretty uneventful but I like it this way.
Thank you for reading. :)

Enjoying My Freedom From School
Hi Everyone,
I am currently enjoying my freedom from school. I'm free until May 20 when classes resume and I am enjoying being as non-academic as possible. I have watched tv, played with my baby niece, read, and just chilled. It's been nice. :)
Here are the good things that have happened in the last few days:
1. No School.
-Stated above but worth restating as it's definitely a good thing. ;)
2. Rocking out in my driveway.
-It's been awhile since I've been able to take advantage of the fact that I live in the middle of nowhere. Today I rocked out to "Whistle" by Flo Rida. Love not having neighbors. Today I didn't even stop dancing when a car went by. :P
3. Watching NCIS.
-So I recently purchased all 9 seasons on dvd. I actually have spent a lot less time than you would expect watching them but it's so nice to be able to watch them on demand.
4. Watching Blimey Cow.
This video is pretty funny. I really like the part about how a guy feels when a girl tells him she thinks of him as a brother. Made me literally laugh out loud.
5. This video.
No explanation needed.
So it appears I have watched a lot of tv/ YouTube videos but I'm going to rationalize it by saying that my brain can only handle so much knowledge and therefore I must rest it now or it will burst. ;)
Hope everyone is doing well.
Thanks for reading.

Happy Weekend Everyone!
Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all having an excellent weekend.
Today I'll skip the jibber jabber and cut to the good things of the last few days.
1. I survived my practical!
-You need to get an 80 on every practical to pass the class which makes these tests even more nerve wracking. I did it as did everyone in my class to my knowledge. It wasn't perfect but made it through. :)
2. Spending time with my awesome classmates.
-Today we had a research symposium in the morning into the early afternoon and a bunch of time to kill before our end of the year party at 4 so I got to spend lots of time with these lovely ladies and our two gentlemen. It was a lot of fun.
3. This weather.
-To be honest, my favorite temperature range is between 64 and 70 degrees but I will take the warmer weather if you get the sun to go with it, which, we have. :)
4. Eating frozen fruit for dessert.
-What else can you eat for dessert at 11:00pm and not worry about it going to your hips. :)
5. NCIS
-Did you think I would leave it out? ;) I rewatched the newest episode and found the longer preview for the upcoming episode and am so excited to see where the storyline is headed. :P I know I've been a little obsessed with it but watching NCIS has been my escape from the real world lately and everyone needs an escape sometimes. :)
Thank you for reading.
Enjoy your day.

Two More Tests
So I have two more tests before I can escape my college for two weeks before summer classes begin. I am having the hardest time motivating myself to study for them. No one to blame but myself there. :P I will eventually break my bad habit of procrastination. Maybe next semester I will be more proactive. Doubtful but maybe, one can always hope. :)
So today I learned the importance of being attentive to what I am posting on the internet when I posted a joke that I meant to send to my sister on my Facebook page. Luckily, it wasn't really bad or embarrassing or anything, I even decided to leave it up. You can check it out on my page, it's easy to pick out, it has a minor swear word and a reference to something which some people may find offensive or be taken a little aback. I do still think it's a funny post though and not too bad so it can stay. :P
Here are the good things about the last few days.
1. I completely finished 3 more classes.
-Two tests have been taken and a seminar sat through and reflection on it written. :)
2. The sun has been shining. :)
3. NCIS
-Many of you are rolling your eyes about now but don't judge. :P I watched the new episode yesterday (it was excellent) and I got to watch the first few episodes ever. I love watching the really old episodes after the show has been around a couple seasons. The first season the characters are kind of enigmas, they have personalities that have not yet been well-developed and still have the potential to go a few different ways. For example, Gibbs, the functional mute, is more talkative and more light-hearted then he is in the later seasons. :)
4. The semester is almost over. :)
-One class, one lab practical, and one test to go.
For all those in school : Good Luck with Finals.
Thank you for reading.
Blessings,
Veronica

My Lovely Weekend
Hi Everyone. So this weekend was pretty good. I didn't get as much accomplished as I should have but I got way more done than if I had gone home. It was nice not having to make that drive as well.
Here are the good things about the last couple of days:
1. NCIS
-So I spent much more time then I probably should have watching NCIS but it was fun so it was time well spent in my opinion. :P
2. Hung (is that a word?) out with some cool people.
-It was my classmate's birthday yesterday and another classmate's a few days ago so a bunch of us met up to celebrate a little. It was fun. :)
3. Got an interesting compliment today.
-I was walking back to my dorm and some random guy said to me, "Good afternoon Gorgeous, you have a good afternoon now." It was kind of random but he wasn't a creepy old man so I appreciated it. It was thoughtful of him. :)
4. Cleaned my room.
-A future stepford wife I am not. My room isn't even completely clean but I did all my dishes and washed all my clothes so it's a lot better than it was. :) I may hate laundry and dishes but I do love it when they are done. :P
Hope everyone has a good week. :)
Thanks for reading.

Happy Friday!
Happy Friday Everyone! The last few days have been pretty good. The semester is winding down, I only have 2 classes, 1 seminar, and 4 tests left (because that's not much right?) before the spring semester is over! :P
Here are the good things about the last few days.
1. NCIS
-I love NCIS. It is seriously the best show ever. I'm currently obsessed. :P Cannot wait for the new episode on Tuesday! So excited. :)
2. Passed my lab checkoff today.
-Woot Woot! Done with that lab now. :) PS. I channeled a grumpy old man when it was my turn to role play as the patient which was a lot of fun. It would have been funnier if I could have kept a straight face. I felt a little bad afterward because I thought maybe I made it harder on my partner but she was a good sport about it. :P
3. Got to spend time with some of the lovely ladies from my lab group yesterday.
-Instead of being a hermit during the 2 hours between lab and class yesterday, I went and "studied" with some of the ladies from my lab. It was a lot of fun. :)
4. Didn't have to drive home this weekend.
-So because I have 3 tests this coming week I decided that it was in my best interests not to go home this weekend. Sometimes this drive is pretty stressful so it was nice not to have to make it. :P
5. Watching NCIS.
-I like it so much at the moment, it deserves 2 spots on my list of good things. :P
Hope you all have a good weekend.
Thanks for reading.

Veronica

Spring Semester is Almost Over!
Can I get a hallelujah? ;) This has been the weirdest semester of my college career. I've just never gotten into a set routine with this semester and it's thrown me off. Nevertheless, it's almost over. :)
Although I am well aware that my life is not all that interesting I'm going to try to post more often. I kind of miss posting everyday and it does make me try to focus on the good things in my life. Oddly enough, I even had a classmate tell me she missed my blog ( <3 michelle="" nbsp="" p="" you="">
Here are today's good things:
1. There was a Roberts Wesleyan College advertisement banner on fmylife.com.
-For those of you who may not know, RWC, is a private Christian liberal arts college and fmylife.com is where people post things that make them say, "FML." Those two things just don't go together and I find this highly amusing even though I know that RWC probably did not intentionally place their ad on that site. :P
2. Had a good workout. :)
-Love that I can watch TV while working out. It makes the workout so much easier. ;)
3. Class wasn't as bad as I anticipated.
-It was a seminar on professionalism and ethics from 9-4pm. Please let me know if that description makes you want to take that class in my place. No takers? I didn't think so. :P But seriously, it could have been a lot worse. :P
Thanks for reading.

Can This Semester Please Be Over Already?
Ugh, can this semester please be over already? I'm just so over it. I think everyone is.
Nothing is really new in my life so I might as well get to a few of the good things that have happened in the last week.
1. Having this song come on the radio and still knowing the lyrics made my Saturday.
I was in seventh grade when this song came out. I loved Eminem's music. I wasn't one of the girls who was in love with him but I knew the lyrics to most of his songs. :P
2. Discovering Messy Mondays on Youtube. Some of these videos are hilarious and watching them is a great way to procrastinate. :P
This video speaks truth btw. ;)
3. Survived a practical.
-Practicals are the most nerve wracking tests ever.
4. Persuasion is one of the best books ever.
-I usually read a fun-read book to help wind down before bed. Right now I am reading Persuasion. I love this book. Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth are awesome characters. Thank you Jane Austen. :)
Thank you for reading.

Veronica

Last Day of Fieldwork
Hey Guys and Gals,
Life's been a bit hectic since I last posted. It's crunch time in the semester and I've been feeling the crunch. :P
Today was a pretty good day. Today was my last day of fieldwork. This morning was kind of stressful but this afternoon went well. Our supervisor made us a farewell cake, we made tissue paper owls with the group which came out really cute, and I only had to play one round of Wii bowling. :P
This evening I was forced, as a class requirement, to attend an interprofessional conference on ALS. I will say that I have now experienced first hand the importance of second opinions since some of the things that were said were way off the mark (I even googled it to be sure). *sigh* Tell me again, why do I want to work with people? :P
To end, here's a few good things that happened since the last time I posted.
1. I survived 3 tests, 2 of which were yesterday.
2. My mom came over to my school to visit this past weekend.
-It was fun to spend time with my mom and made the fact that I had tests to study for a little better. :)
3. Spring finally appears to be here!
Thanks for reading.
Blessings,
Veronica

Happy Easter!
Happy Easter Everyone!
To begin I'm going to give the good things of the last few days.
Thursday
1. Had a good workout which allowed me to work off some of my stress from school.
2. Had another fun night studying/procrastinating by texting friends. :)
Friday
1. I passed my lab practical! :)
2. Made it safely home from school.
-It wasn't the easiest drive home I've had but I still made it home safely. :)
3. Got an odd compliment from one of my brother's friends that made me smile.
-I was on the phone with my oldest younger brother, Sam, and his friend stole the phone and said, "Hi Veronica. Hi beautiful." He was joking around but being called beautiful is one of the best compliments out there so as joking statements go, that one is pretty awesome. ;)
Saturday
1. Had a good day at work.
2. Got a lot of housework accomplished.
-Housework is one of those awful things that is never really finished but I was quite productive so I'm happy. :)
Today
1. It's Easter.
-Easter is amazing. :)
2. Had a safe drive back to school.
-No mishaps. It was nice :)
So today ends lent which means today ends my lent commitment of recording at least two good things for everyday. I've really enjoyed blogging the good things of my day for the last 40 days. :)
Since last year I've recognized that there truly is a silver lining to almost every situation, even if it's very small. Everyday has good things in it, we sometimes just have trouble recognizing them.
This years lent commitment really helped me to recognize the good things in my life. I hope that my blogging about it has helped others to see the good things in their's or at least given them a good chuckle. :)
I'm not quite sure where my blog is headed now that lent is over. I will make sure I post at least once a week but beyond that I'm not sure. I will be sure to include a few good things from my week in my posts as well. :)
Thank you for reading. :)
Blessings,
Veronica

And sometimes you just don't want it to be Wednesday.
Can you believe it's already Wednesday? Usually I'm super excited but lately it's more like, "Crap, it's Wednesday, there is no way I am getting half the stuff I wanted to get done this week done by Friday." :P I'm so hard to please. ;)
Today went pretty well. Today I had multiple deja vu moments. It wasn't just one particular day I was having it for either. I think it was the weather that kept doing it. Something about spring weather imprints random moments in my mind. Does that happen to anyone else or am I just weird? :P
Since I did nothing but go to class, do homework, and study here are today's good things:
1. I had class this morning.
-This is the first time we have had a Wednesday morning class in weeks (it's been online). I hate mornings, I am so not a morning person but I love having morning classes. I'm weird like that but I am so much more productive when I have an outside force, like class that makes me get out of bed. ;)
2. Working on my SOAP note in the library with my awesome classmate. :)
-Working on annoying homework assignments is so much better when you have someone to distract you from time to time, to complain about the assignment to, and ask for help when you are confused.
3. Getting said SOAP note done before 7:30pm.
-I love it when I finish assignments early in the night. :)
4. Having a texting conversation with someone while studying.
-Texting allows you to procrastinate and be productive at the same time. Who doesn't love that? ;) Also if they make you laugh it makes studying less irksome. :)
Thanks for reading.

It's Been One Year
Well, it's been one year since my world as I knew it was shattered forever. One year that I never foresaw.
I'm kind of relieved that it's been one year. We've gone through every holiday and birthday at least once. We know how it feels to be without her and we have learned that we are able to go on.
For those of you who may not know, today is the one year anniversary of my younger sister's death. Constance was only seventeen and she wasn't just my sister but my friend.
I miss her more than words can say. Anyone who has lost someone they were so close to can relate and even those who haven't can probably imagine. I miss her everyday. Not a single day has gone by that I have not thought of her. I have gone through a myriad of emotions when it comes to her death. Sadness, betrayal, anger, I have felt them all. I still do.
The hardest days are, for the most part, not the big holidays or birthdays, but the everyday days when it just kind of hits you. It may be an object, a thought, a sight, a memory, a sentence or phrase, or something else that just brings the memories back. Those are the worst.
I hate living without my sister. I hate knowing I will never talk to her again. I hate that she is gone forever. I hate that it sometimes feels like the ultimate betrayal that she is gone. I hate that some ignorant people blame my family for her death.
I know my sister is in a better place. I know that she is finally, truly, and completely happy and fulfilled. Looking back I realize just how much Constance battled with her inner demons and that the inner demons finally won. It's good to know that if Constance can't be here with us that she is in the best place that anyone could be.
I've learned a lot over the past year. I've learned I'm a lot stronger than I ever thought I could be. I've learned who my real friends are. I've learned that there are a lot of people who care about my well-being. I've learned that it is possible to move on after a loss like mine.
One thing about life is it does go on. You have to keep moving forward because the world doesn't stop moving just because you think it should. I don't mean this as discouragement but the opposite. How great is it that we are able to move on with our lives? That we don't have to let one moment (or several) in our lives define us? We are greater than that. The world is greater than that.
Sometimes I get really down when I think about the fact that I have to live the rest of my life without my baby sister. Constance is gone. She won't be there when I graduate, if I get married or have children and I will never see her do these things either. It can be very overwhelming. I guess what gets me through it is that God has a plan for me and there is always light where there is darkness.
This past year there has been a lot of pain but there has been a lot of love and happiness as well. My niece, Amelia, and my nephew, Gage, were both welcomed into the world. I found out I have some really great friends. I began my job as a community habilitation aide which I really like. I had a great summer working at camp and worked with some really great people. I began grad school and met a bunch of new, really great people. I have learned that I am a lot stronger than I thought I was and I hope that my experience can help someone else.
I really don't know if any of that above makes any sense but I hope it does.
I really don't want to end this note on a depressing note so I want to give you a recap of my day.
Today was a really good day for the most part. Field work went well. My friend and classmate came over for dinner and then we studied although we mostly just talked. To keep with my lent commitment, here are today's good things:
1. I did not have a hard time getting up for fieldwork this morning and I felt ready to face the day.
2. Fieldwork went well.
3. Having great friends.
-A couple of my friends texted me to let me know they were thinking of me to day. My friend who came over for dinner was a great listener and really helped me to smile. Thank you ladies. :)
4. That I have made it through the year and that I am stronger than I was before.
-Had you asked me before this happened how I would handle it I don't think I would have thought I could do it but I did. I know it sounds boastful but I am proud at how I handled it and I am proud of my family as well. It's been a hell of year but we made it. We have no where to go but forward. :)

Is it really the last week of March?
Wow, March is flying by. Suddenly all those tests and projects that were so far in the distance seem so close now. :P
Today wasn't bad. The hardest part of my day was probably getting out of bed. Although, I did have a really hard time staying awake in my upper extremity class. As a result, everything my professor said sounded like gibberish. :P
Here are today's good things:
1. My psychosocial class was really interesting.
-That class is not my favorite but today it went pretty well. We had a guest speaker and she had us do some really cool group activities.
2. My classmates.
-I know I've mentioned this before but my classmates are pretty awesome. I really am blessed to be in a class with such great people. Being in class with them makes my day brighter. :)
Thanks for reading.

An Ironic Weekend
Yesterday was one of the best Saturdays I've had lately and Saturday marked the one year anniversary of the day that Constance sustained the injuries that resulted in her death three days later. Ironic, don't you agree? But, I don't want this to be a Debbie Downer post so I will focus on the good things about this weekend.
Friday
1. Made it home safely.
-It was super windy when I was driving on the thruway but I survived. :)
2. I managed to get my online posts for my hybrid course done on time.
-I remembered at 10:50pm that I still had to do the posts that were due by 11:59pm. Finished with 6 minutes to spare. :P
Saturday
1. Work went well.
-My client and I got along really well. No major mishaps. It was good. :)
2. I got to meet my newest nephew, Gage. :)
-Now I can be one of those annoying people with all the baby pictures. ;)
-I enjoyed babysitting Gage. He's really adorable. He has really intense blue eyes, I think they might stay that way. :) I even got to spend some quality time with Sam. It was a lot of fun.
3. The sun was out.
-Like I've said in previous posts, the sun just makes things better. :)
Today
1. Watching Mayhem commercials with my mom.
-I don't know about you but I love All-State Insurance's Mayhem commercials. If you ever need a pick me up, go to YouTube and look them up. They are hilarious. :)
2. My drive back went well.
-Not much wind. It was great. :)
3. The sun was shining today as well.
-I even went for a walk when I got back. I love sunshine. :)
Thanks for reading.

Hooray for Better Moods!
So yes, I am still sick but I am in a much better mood. I have decided that on days I'm in a bad mood I am Becky Bitchface, Debbie Downer's cousin. But, have no fear, Becky Bitchface has left the building, at least for now.:P
Here are today's good things:
1. Actually having class.
-I know, weird right? I like having structure in my day and I was missing the bright faces of my very awesome classmates. I had break, then 1 day of class, then nothing for the past 2 days. I missed those guys! :)
2. The newest Lizzie Bennett episode came out today and it is amazing! :) :) :)
3. Finished my intervention plan that's due tomorrow.
-Do I know how good it is? No. Do I care? Not really because it is done. ;)
Thanks for reading.

Veronica

Blah
Blah, that's about sums up how I feel right about now. I have been under the weather the last few days and I just feel blah. I feel like a whine ass and I almost never act like that when I'm sick. I'm not even that sick but my fieldwork was cancelled yesterday and I didn't have class today and that lack of structure actually makes me feel worse because it's so hard to motivate myself to do anything.
So now that you all know what a whiny baby I am at the moment I should probably get to today and yesterday's good things.
Today
1. The new Pepperidge Farm Milano Cookie commercial is hilarious.
-Unfortunately, it's not on YouTube so I can't show it too you but keep your eyes peeled for it because it'll give you a good chuckle.
Today it is hard to come up with a second one. I am not in a good mood.
2. That it's the first day of spring.
-It may not look or feel like it but it is. I love spring so hopefully winter will hightail it out of here.
Tuesday
1. I didn't have fieldwork.
-Fieldwork is not so bad but my normal voice cuts in and out with a raspy one so it was nice not to have to speak to multiple people and have to worry about them asking me a bunch of questions.
2. I got my FAFSA for next year completed.
-Hooray for financial aid that gives me loans that allows me to go to college.
Sorry I'm kind of a bitch today. Hopefully I'll be nicer tomorrow. :P

Welcome Back To School
Hey friends. Sorry I haven't posted in the last few days. Weekends are always hectic for me at home with work and going back to school and all that fun stuff. I feel a little under the weather so I'll cut right to the good things of the last few days, starting today and going backwards.
Today
1. My psychosocial class went better than expected.
-We had a test and talked about clinical depression. Way to be welcomed back but it wasn't as bad as you might expect it to be.
2. The Lizzie Bennett Diaries newest episode came out today.
-What will I do when the show finishes up next week? ;)
Sunday
1. Stopped to see my grandfather before heading back to school and he was in better spirits than he has been the last few times I saw him. He's finally starting to feel better after his last surgery. :)
2. Had a safe drive back to school.
-It wasn't an easy drive for me because of the wind and traffic but the roads were clear and it was light outside. :)
Saturday
1. Watched this episode of project runway with my mom. Seriously hilarious. :P
2. Had a good day at work.
Friday
1. Enjoyed eating dinner and watching Big Bang Theory with my mother and two youngest brothers. :)
2. Got to see my super awesome BFF Lisa!
-Man, did I miss that girl :)
Thanks for reading.

Crap, It's Already Thursday!
Ugh, it's already Thursday. :( I have not accomplished anything that I was planning on doing this week. Oops. Oh well. Life goes on.
Remember how I told you that my professor decided it would be a good idea to have a test on the Monday we returned? Yeah, have not started studying for that yet. I would like to take that test and shove it somewhere but I digress.
Well here are today's good things:
1. Work went pretty well.
-My client cooperated pretty well, everything went smoothly for the most part.
2. The Lizzie Bennett Diaries was good today. Well, in my opinion it was good. Lizzie always cracks me up. ;)
3. A five year old singing this song.
The five year old is the little sister of my client. She knows the lyrics to a ton of songs. She's a riot. This song is apparently her favorite of Philip Philips.

Don't Like The Weather Here? Wait Five Minutes.
So today went much better than yesterday. The sun was shining, I didn't completely fail at interacting with others, and work went well.
I love it when it's sunny, it just makes everything better. It was sunny basically everyday between the day my sister died and the day of her funeral. If it hadn't been sunny I don't think I would have been able to handle it as well as I did. Sunny weather just kind of gives you hope and just brightens your day (literally and figuratively). :)
So I went to work this afternoon and the drive there was great. I was driving with my window cracked, my music on, and the roads were clear. While I was at work it began to snow on and off. About a half hour before I would otherwise finish, the parents of the family I work for asked me to get going because it was starting to get bad. I was glad they did because as it was I had to crawl home in my car and it was only probably going to get worse. Luckily, I made it home with no issues. :)
I cannot wait for winter to be over!
Here are today's good things:
1. Work went better than yesterday. :)
2. I may have drove home slower than my grandfather (quite a slow driver) would have driven in this weather but I made it home in one piece. :)
3. Today's drive to work was great. :)
4. The sun was out today!

Today I Failed At Proper Interaction With The Human Race
So today kind of sucked. Not because anything significant happened but because I kind of failed at interacting with the human race. Earlier today I got in an argument with my mother and my baby niece was driving me crazy. At work tonight I could not get my client to cooperate so I had to go get her mother to help me. I just felt kind of off with 99% of my interactions with people today.
As I said, this day sucked. It's not one for the record books but it just was a bad day. The weather was rainy and gross which didn't help. Neither did the fact that I managed to dehydrate myself again and I still haven't adjusted to daylight savings time.
Well enough bellyaching, tomorrow is another day. Time to list today's good things.
1. This song came on the radio just before I pulled in my driveway after work and helped cheer me up.
-This song is awesome, plain and simple. ;)
2. Living in the middle of nowhere has it's perks.
-Blasting the song from above and dancing in my driveway would not be as socially acceptable if I had neighbors. ;)
Thanks for reading.

Veronica

Spring Break So Far
Hello Friends,
Sorry I haven't posted in a few days, It's been kind of hectic. Since I haven't really did anything interesting I'll skip the play-by-play and just get to the good things of the last few days, starting today and going backwards.
Today
1. Today I didn't have work or classes. Double win!
2. Had a fun afternoon with my mom and my niece.
3. Found out my niece likes not only my taste in music but also me singing to her.
-This was pretty exciting because my niece was really starting to get on my nerves this evening. She was kind of chilling in her exersaucer and I was on my computer when I started singing to a song I had playing. Her attention perked in my direction and she kind of smiled so I picked her up and started singing to her and she was smiling and in her baby way joined in. So far I know she likes Bruno Mars, Gloriana, Eli Young Band, and Lady Antebellum. ;)
Sunday
1. Managed to get up and get to work with minimal issues despite it being the first day of daylight savings time.
2. One of my kitty's cuddled with me in my bed last night.
-Anyone who is an animal lover knows how awesome it is to have your pet cuddle with you at night. :)
Saturday
1. Work went relatively well.
-Anyone who works in human services knows you have good days and not-so-good days. Since it was my first day working in a couple weeks it was nice that it went relatively well.
2. Took the long way home from work.
-It was a nice day so I decided to take the long way home. It's nice to drive through the wooded areas sometimes. :)
Friday
1. Classes went pretty well. I felt like I had a decent understanding of what we were learning.
-In other words I wasn't completely lost.
2. My drive home went smoothly.
-Didn't hurt my car, didn't almost hurt my car, didn't have any big issues merging with busy roads, didn't have any bouts of road rage. :P
3. Got to see my family. :)
4. Got to see my kitties. :)

Two Labs and Then I Can Head Home!
Today wasn't too bad I guess. This morning's lab went well and this afternoon's class was okay.
I had aspirations of being super productive the last couple days so I didn't have to do any work over break. My body had other plans and decided to be really tired today and last night so that didn't happen but that's okay. The only thing I really will have to deal with is studying for a test that is happening on the Monday we come back (how cruel is that?).
So here are today's good things:
1. Getting enough ambition to do my laundry.
-I was going to just leave it till next week (kind of yucky, I know but I can be quite lazy) but now I have nice clean clothes instead of a smelly hamper full.
2. I go home tomorrow!!!!!!!!
- Just have to make it through 2 labs first. I cannot wait to not have classes for an entire week!!!!
Blessings,
Veronica

It's Hump Day. Almost Time For Break!
Hello again to all my friends. I'm glad you came to play. Our fun and learning never ends, here's what we did today:
(Ten points if you can name what small children's TV show that came from!)
Sorry, it popped in my head when I was trying to figure out how to start this post. ;)
Today wasn't too bad. I didn't have any physical class and got myself out of bed at 8:30am, so that was nice. I watched/listened to today's online lecture while playing solitaire and did my forum post by noon. My day did not look like it was going to turn out well when I was reminded of a sore spot from last year and began to get very angry and upset. Luckily, I decided to go work on my SOAP note in the library which helped the anger and sadness to pass.
Some might say that I'm not dealing with my grief but I am. I just choose not to let grief and anger mess up my day at 1:00 in the afternoon. As the saying goes, life goes on and the easiest way for me to move on and deal with my grief is to not let it consume me by moving forward with my life. Essentially the Toyota slogan has become my life slogan.
So after I went to the library, I worked on my SOAP note for I don't know how long until it was done. In that time, I convinced my classmate to come to the library to work on her's too so I had company. It also gave me the incentive to stay until I was finished rather than say never mind and come back to it later. Since finishing I have managed to go to the gym, eat dinner, and watch NCIS. :P
So here are today's good things:
1. Not having my day messed up at 1 in the afternoon.
-Thank God that I had something to work on and was able to go to the library to work on it. Something to occupy my over active brain and a change of scenery usually do the trick. :)
2. Embracing smiling. :)
-I love to smile. I love being happy. I love making people happy. I had a friend tell me today that I smile a lot and I said that it's because I like smiling better than frowning. It's one of those things that is kind of obvious but it's the truth. And although smiling can't heal everything, it can do a lot to bolster the spirit.
3. Two more days of classes and then break!
-Woot Woot!

Tuesday's are Tiring :P
So this semester we have fieldwork once a week, for me that day is Tuesday. I don't what it is about fieldwork but my partner-in-crime (aka my classmate who is at the same site) and I are always exhausted when we are done for the day. I hope this is not foreshadowing how I will feel after every work day. :P
That being said, since returning from said fieldwork, I did not get much accomplished. Therefore I will just cut to today's good things:
1. Fieldwork went really well today.
-My classmate and I each interviewed a client (a requirement for class) and it went well. I enjoyed learning about the client I interviewed and I think he enjoyed being asked. He didn't even find the more intrusive questions (about grooming and such) that I was required to ask. He did fall asleep on me during the interview which was pretty funny. It began with him closing his eyes but still talking to me but then when I asked the next question I got no response and had to wake him up. The lunch staff who witnessed this and I got a good laugh out of that and he denied having fallen asleep which made it funnier.
We also found new ways to interact with our two ladies who have dementia. Dementia can be very frustrating for all of those involved so finding ways to adapt activities for these clients and finding activities they like to do can be very fulfilling.
2. Only 3 more days till break!!!!!!!!!!

It's Monday.
It's Monday. Does anyone out there who deal with a M-F work or school week actually like Mondays? Probably not.
Actually today wasn't too bad. Learned not to drink Fuji Apple Watermelon Vitamin Water whose cutesy name is Attention.Vitamin water doesn't usually have caffeine but apparently, this one does. It has 87mg of caffeine in it, that's more than mountain dew. I didn't know this before I drank it so my body was not happy with me. At least I made sure to combat it with lots of water so my body could recover quickly. :P
Classes went well. I actually did my reading so I knew what my profs were talking about, always a plus.
Tonight I went to a lecture on civic engagement and human trafficking. A depressing topic but it was an interesting lecture. Learned more about the topic than I knew before.
I'm just kind of tired which is contributing to me being kind of down tonight but mostly I just miss my little sister. It'll be a year March 26.
Nevertheless, here are today's good things:
1. Actually knowing what is going on in class for the majority of class.
-Everyone always says that I'm smart but the truth is that I am constantly confused in class and have to review things multiple times, sometimes many, many times, to understand the material.
2. I have some really great friends.
-Knowing that there are people, besides my family, out there that give a damn about me means more than I can say.
3. Break is coming up!
-Only 4 more days till I get to go home!
Thanks for reading.
Blessings,
Veronica

You Win Some, You Lose Some
Not sure if that's a good title but it kind of explains how you have some good days and some bad days and some good/bad days.
For example, today is a good/bad day. It went well for the majority of it but it's taken a nosedive in the last couple hours. Not because anything significant happened but because there was a cumulation of a bunch of small, on there own almost insignificant, factors that made me go from being in a really good mood to being really pissed off. So needless to say, I'm not exactly the friendliest person as I write this. I won't bother listing why I'm in a bad mood because like I said, it's a cumulation of a bunch of small factors.
Since I was too lazy to write a post yesterday here are both Saturday and Sunday's good things.
Saturday
1. Went to the farmer's market.
-I love going to the farmer's market. This week I bought chocolate cherry almond butter, chocolate coconut meat butter, and cranberry creamed honey. Yummy. :)
2. Was pretty productive homework wise. :)
Sunday
1. Had a good workout at the gym.
-I know that I probably sound like one of those annoying people on FB who always talk about how they went to the gym but it really is a good thing from my day. Going to the gym often improves my mood and gives me more energy, keeping me from being a perpetual sleepy Debbie Downer. ;)
2. Finished my reading for class tomorrow. :)
I think my bad mood is preventing me from coming up with other good things. ;)
Thanks for reading.

Veronica

Hooray It's Friday!
Guess what? It's Friday and you know what that means? Of course you do :P
Man do I hate having 5 days of classes. It's too much like the real world. :P But in all seriousness it is an adjustment to make from last semester where I only had 4 days of classes.
It's Friday, Friday, I'm chilling out on Friday :) I am seriously the most boring person on earth because I love Friday nights where I stay in and do nothing. :P
I'm kind of hyper at the moment, might be the cappuccino I drank tonight. Might not have been the best decision but what can I say, it was good. :)
Here are today's good things:
1. Guess who didn't fail her exam in her upper extremities class? That's right, this girl. :)
-Don't roll your eyes, I really thought I had failed that exam.
2. Had another good workout.
-I wasn't even going to go to the gym but I somehow got enough omph to go and I'm glad I did. A good workout helps with your serotonin levels and your heart and I prefer being happy and healthy.
3. Rocking out to my NSYNC radio station on Pandora.
-As I told the mom of the family I work with, I really do dance around my room like her 5 year old and I love the boy bands from my childhood. :)
4. It's Friday.
-No classes till Monday. What kind of insane person doesn't love that?!
5. One more week until spring break!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-Can you tell I'm excited?
Okay that's enough craziness for one post.
Thanks for reading!

Oh My Goodness, It's Already Thursday!
Well made it through another day. Can't believe tomorrow's already Friday. This week just flew by!
Since my life is not that interesting, here are today's good things.
1. It was really nice out today. :)
-I love sunny weather, it can help to cheer me up and set the tone for my day. As it was so nice I walked to the store and back rather than take my car so it helped me be green too. ;)
2. Classes went pretty well today.
-Always a plus.
3. Had a good workout.
-I was so tired the last few days my workouts have been kind of sluggish but my walk to the store warmed me up and I had a good workout. :)
Tomorrow is my double lab day. Let's hope it goes as well as today.
Blessings,
Veronica

A Tired Wednesday
Anyone else ever get exhausted and know you have no good reason for it? That's me right now. I mean I could blame school and that's probably it but I don't understand why I'm so tired lately. I don't have mono and I feel like I get a good amount of sleep plus I work out everyday.
My tiredness kind of pissed me off today. I didn't have class today because my one prof is teaching through online presentations at the moment and because of that my other prof moved our hour long class to between classes tomorrow. I wanted to get up at 8:30 but didn't get up till 9:30 and didn't really start my day till almost noon. I know I should be happy that I am 23 but have no responsibilities besides school and can, not do anything till almost noon and still be okay but I would like to be able to be more productive. If I don't have any commitments I can't get motivated, it's a problem.
Well I'll stop bitching about that since it's my problem, not yours. So here are today's good things.
1. Got my laundry done.
-I hadn't did laundry in two weeks and was almost out of clothing so now I have lots of clean laundry. :)
2. I went to Zumba again.
-I'm getting a little more coordinated at some of the songs and I think it made me work harder than I would have if I'd gone to the gym. It was fun.
3. Actually watched the online class videos and did the post that is due Friday so I did do something productive related to school today. :)
I apologize for a post that read's kind of like Debbie Downer wrote it. It wasn't a bad day. It was a day.
Here's Hoping Tomorrow is a Better Day!
Thank you for reading :)

Tuesday's Good Things and a Prayer Request
Well today went pretty well for the most part. I had fieldwork today and my classmate and I led a group that went pretty well. I also only had to play Wii bowling for a little while today, thank goodness!
I want to ask you all to please keep the family and friends of a Houghton College student, Gregory, in your thoughts and prayers as it is believed that he took his own life by entering the Niagara River this past weekend. I didn't know Gregory but as a former Houghton student and someone who can identify some with what his loved ones are going through I'm sure any prayers would be helpful and appreciated.
Here are today's good things:
1. As mentioned, our group activity went well.
2. As I also mentioned, I only had to play Wii bowling a little while today!
-So happy about that. :P
3. My best friend sent me a link to this video.
-Definitely put a smile on my face.
Blessings,
Veronica

Procrastination is the Thief of TIme
So my procrastination has finally bit me in the a**, as many of you would have guessed since I've been off the grid since last Wednesday. No one to blame but myself.
Today was kind of a WTF day but in the grand scheme of life it really isn't. The events of last year have really mellowed me out. Life can be pretty crappy but it takes a lot to make it truly suck. I guess they weren't lying when they say that you grow from the sh*t life puts you through.
So to keep with my lent commitment I'll give you a quick rundown of some of the good things from the last few days.
Thursday
1. My 8am Psychosocial Evaluation and Intervention lab went well.
-Psychosocial things and I are not friends, especially at 8am so this was a plus.
2. Got everything that was due Friday done.
Friday
1. We began learning about modalities in Foundations of Phys Rehab Lab.
-A nice change-up from perfectionist inducing splint making. :P
2. Got to go home!
-Enough said!
Saturday
1. Got to go to work.
-I really like my job, even though it can be really stressful. It was really great to work with my client and see her and her family again.
2. Got to hang out with my cats.
-I missed those furry devils. ;)
Sunday
1. My drive back went well.
-The roads were clear and mostly dry, it was pretty great.
2. Got my homework for Monday done.
Monday
1. My Dove chocolate wrapper said "Naughty can be nice."
-Totally unexpected. Definitely put a smile on my face.
2. Watched NCIS on USA.
-Love NCIS, that is was an episode that I'd never seen before and was really good was a plus. :P
3. As crappy as this day was, it's over!
-I got through a facilitated discussion and a test. Bombed the test but like I said no one to blame but myself. It's only one test. There's always next time! :)
So let's see if I can be a little more productive this week and prevent this from happening again. :)
Blessings,
Veronica

A Really Good Day, They Do Exist!
Today was a really good day. I haven't had too many of those lately so it's pretty incredible that I did. :)
Since my day was so great I won't even bother to number my good things. I'll just give you a recap of my day.
It started off with waking up feeling pretty rested. I also got a text this morning from a friend telling me that she really likes my blog and it makes her day a little better to read about the good things that have happened in my day. If that's not a pick-me-up I don't know what is. :P
I had a test this morning that I'm relatively confident I passed. It was nice that the test was first thing this morning because it got it out of the way. :)
After the test we had a make up lab for the lab that Nemo cancelled on us. We finished strapping and grading our splints which means the splinting part of Intro to Physical Rehab is over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Splinting is interesting but a pain. I'm excited to move onto something new. :) I also received another compliment on my blog while strapping my splint which also brightened my day.
We then had our Psychosocial Fieldwork Supervision seminar where my class and I got to have a good laugh. Apparently my "love," otherwise known as loathing, of Wii bowling shows on my face. When giving a recap of yesterdays fieldwork I happened to mention that we played Wii bowling. I guess my facial expression changed because my professor asked me to elaborate. I had nothing against the game but the clients love it and in the 3 days I've been at fieldwork I have played about 8 hours of Wii bowling total. I now HATE Wii bowling. The mention of playing it makes me cringe :P (Note to self: Try to be less expressive when talking :P)
That was my last class of the day so I did homework until I went Zumba at 4 with some of my classmates. I'm really glad one of my classmates invited me because it is kind of fun and a nice change up from straight cardio. :)
This evening I was really productive and got one of the million things due next week done. So ends my day.
Now that I sound like one of those annoying "my life is just awesome" people I will bid you good night.
Just remember, really good days do exist. :)
Blessings,
Veronica

Even Dreary Awful Tuesdays Have Good Things
Not going to lie. Today was a pretty crappy day. It was long and tiring. Fieldwork had its highs and lows today. Had a homicidal headache for a few hours (a headache that makes you want to hurt people) then turned into a dull ache. Studied for an exam. The works.
I hit an ultimate low when The Pussycat Dolls song 'Don't Cha' made me cry. That song used to be fun, now it just reminds me of things I'd rather forget.
Still, I can't say my day was all bad. Here are the good things.
1. I'm not at my fieldwork site by myself.
-It's nice to have someone else you know there. It's also nice when you need to vent and to know you're not the only person feeling that way. It's awesome when you really like the person you're with and I do. :)
2. Be able to vent steam at the gym.
-Nothing takes the edge off a homicidal headache quite like a good cardio workout.
3. I think I know enough to pass my test tomorrow.
-Could be totally wrong but going through the notes and I feel like I know enough to at least pass.
4. I'm going home Friday!
-Always a plus.
Hoping Tomorrow is Better!

Veronica
I hit an ultimate low when The Pussycat Dolls song 'Don't Cha' made me cry. That song used to be fun, now it just reminds me of things I'd rather forget.
Still, I can't say my day was all bad. Here are the good things.
1. I'm not at my fieldwork site by myself.

Sunday/Monday Update
Due to poor time management skills I'm going to cut right to Sunday and Monday's good things.
Sunday
1. Walking to the grocery store and back.
-Walking to the store gives me a weird satisfaction and sense of independence so it was nice to be able to do it. ;)
2. Seeing a hawk in the park across the street.
-On my way back to school from the store I saw a hawk eating a bird it had caught. You may say it's gross but I thought it was cool. :P
3. Living in a day and age where good dental hygiene exists.
-No really, I do enjoy clean teeth, especially after eating popcorn. :P
Monday
1. I survived my first psychosocial class exam.
-Don't know how I did, but it's over. :)
2. All my dishes are done and garbage is taken to the dumpster.
-I hate dishes and taking out the trash and usually wait till I can't handle looking at the trash or I'm out of dishes. The reason that I was so proactive with them to today was because I was avoiding studying but I don't have to look at a full garbage can or a pile of dishes so I'll take it. ;)
3. I'm going home Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-I have a billion things to do between now and then but I'm going home Friday!!! I'm so excited! :)
Blessings,
Veronica :)

February 16th's Good Things
It's been a long week and it's caught up with me so today I'll cut right to the good things of my day.
1. I got a present for my mom at the farmer's market today (shhhh, it's a surprise ;) ).
2. The mindfulness retreat I went to for extra credit for one of my classes was long but it wasn't too bad.
-All I need now is to write a one page reflection and I get 15 extra credit points that will help in case I bomb the test Monday. :)
3. I got to talk on the phone with my mom.
-It's been over a week since I got to talk to her on the phone so it was nice to have a real conversation instead of just texting. :)
Blessings,
Veronica

Happy Birthday Grandpa!
Today's first good thing is really easy.
1. It's my grandfather's 86th birthday today.
I love my grandfather. He's definitely one of my favorite men (maybe I'm a little biased). ;) He's given us a few scares over the years but he is still here. :) Love You Grandpa!
2. Wanting to dance while at the gym.
-I am one of those people who dance in their car but I try not to freak out people in the gym. I may not have acted on my urge to rock out to my music but it perked me up and made for a better workout. :P
3. Barring any unforeseen circumstances I get to go home next Friday!
-I have not been home since this semester started. Needless to say, I'm pretty pumped. :)
Overall, today was a long day. Not a bad day just a long day.
Blessings,
Veronica

A different kind of commitment for lent
I find it kind of funny that Valentines Day is the day after Ash Wednesday this year. All those people who gave up sweets for lent have to wait until Sunday to enjoy their spoils. ;)
Since I have been have a harder time than usual keeping an optimistic attitude about life lately I have decided to do something a little different for lent this year. Rather than give up anything, I am going to add something to my life. I have decided that each day I need to come up with at least two things that were good about that day.
Since Ihate, hate, hate with a burning passion am not a big fan of journaling, I have decided to post the good things of my day on my blog. I feel a little bit like I'm being attention seeking putting it on here but I know that if I do this I am much more likely to stick with it because as I said, I really do not like journaling.
Today's Good Things
1. Today I had a good morning and a relatively good day.
-The last couple mornings I have been haunted by the events of last year and the events of recent days in my hometown. For some reason my brain thought it was a good idea to bombard me with these thoughts first thing in the morning and it didn't help that I am not a morning person. This morning was different though, I got up with no problem and bad thoughts remained at bay.
2. One of my classmates made awesome chocolate chip cookies and brought them for us to our 8:00am class.
-First of all, it was really thoughtful of her. Secondly, I have a weakness for cookies and they were really good. Apparently the secret is adding vanilla pudding to the mix, must try this next time I make cookies.
3. Had a really good laugh with a couple of my classmates when I discovered that I wrote 7/11/13 on two pages of my notes from class the other day.
-No seriously, I did. I date every page of my notes and put the wrong month on not just one but two pages of notes. My classmate suggested it may have been that I was wishing it was July. ;)
Blessings,
Veronica

Winter Storm Nemo and The Lizzie Bennet Diaries
So, so ends another fun and exciting week at school. By 'fun and exciting,' I mean it was school. My plans were to go home this weekend but Winter Storm Nemo had other plans. So instead of going home to see my family, my cats, and go to work I'm stuck at school. Although I sometimes feel like I am going to go stark raving mad if I don't get to go home soon this weekend so far has been kind of fun.
This morning I went to the year round farmers market. I love farmer's market because you find such high quality food and other items. Today I got honey and a loaf of bread. Last week I got 3 different kinds of specialty peanut butter. They all are delicious so I consider it money well spent. :)
Late this afternoon, my friend and classmate came over and we watched 'The Ugly Truth' on USA. It's kind of a weird and crude movie but it's funny. It was fun to watch the movie with another person to talk to the TV with you and cringe at the awkward parts. ;) It was a lot of fun.
School this week is not even worth reporting about with the exception that we started fieldwork. It should be an interesting experience. I won't bore you with the rest of what went on.
To end this post, I invite you to watch 'The Lizzie Bennet Diaries,' if you are not already. 'The Lizzie Bennet Diaries' are a modern day adaptation of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. The story is told in Vlog format and a new video comes out every Monday and Thursday. They are excellent and watching them is a great way to procrastinate, just ask my best friend from home whom now, thanks to me, is addicted. ;)
Here is the first episode for your entertainment.

A Woman You Probably Shouldn't Mess With
We are taking a break from my oh-so-exciting life this week to share with you something I have learned from listening to music. :)
In life you have choices to make. These choices often affect other people. If you are, in general, a nice person you go through life trying not to hurt other people whenever possible. If you are prone to stabbing people in the back or neglecting people there is one woman you probably shouldn't mess with.
And the winner is:
Carrie Underwood
Let's face it, you mess with her, it will not end well.
If you are an alcoholic father, who is passed out on the couch when a tornado comes, she won't bother to wake you up.
If you are a cheating boyfriend, she'll ruin your car.
If you are a cheating husband, she, and your mistress, will get rid of you.

You know your an OT student when...
You know you are an OT student when you are washing your hair and when you close your eyes you think to yourself, "Boy it would suck to be blind and have a problem with your vestibulocochlear nerve."
For those of you who don't know, your vestibulocochlear nerve is a nerve that helps with balance. If it stops functioning properly you will have trouble balancing with your eyes closed because you now rely heavily on your sight to keep your balance. In other words, if you were blind and you had vestibulocochlear dysfunction, keeping balance would be hard.
You randomly think to yourself while watching people move what muscles they are using for those movements.
Nerdy, I know. :P
When you fidget you now focus on joints that you either didn't know existed or had never thought about before.
I am a fidgeter (is that a word?), always have been. Now when I fidget I fidget by moving my sternoclavicular joint (the joint between your breast and collar bones) and my carpometacarpal joints (the joints between your bones of the wrist and the bones of the palm of your hand. :P
Now that you know just how weird I am let's proceed to a recap of my week.
First week of classes are over, hooray, although, I will be a lot more excited after next week when I have survived a full week of classes.
The first week back is always an adjustment and next week will be even more of one, having a complete week of classes. Second semester always seems harder than first semester, I think it's because some of the novelty of being in school has began to wear off. Nevertheless, I will make it through. I always do. :P
Have a great one!

In the circle is your sternoclavicular joint. You can feel it move by putting your fingers on that spot and moving your shoulder forwards and backwards. Source: http://classconnection.s3.amazonaws.com/533/flashcards/1013533/png/sternoclavicular_joint1351469769017.png |
The circles represent the carpometacarpal joints. You don't palpate the joints so much as make the metacarpal move ( the long skinny bones in the picture). Joints 2 and 3 don't have much movement at all but you can get 1, 2, and 5 to move. Try it sometime ;) Source: http://www.mananatomy.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/carpometacarpal_joints.jpg |

Final Days of Break
Can I just say that keeping my new years resolution of writing at least once a week on my blog is a lot harder than you would think. :P I mean you would think it would be easy but for someone like me, who tends to over think things it can be quite daunting. What's interesting enough in my life to share via my blog? What's too personal? What's so trivial that it's just ridiculous to talk about?
Alright, enough about that. :P As to my other new years resolution, about not procrastinating, it's a work in progress. Some days I manage to be productive but most days I fall into my old patterns of being highly unproductive.
This break has certainly been interesting. The holidays were very different without my little sister, Constance, but they were much better than I ever could have anticipated they would be, given the circumstances. It's weird feeling that way, that you can be happy when you have so much to be sad about but I guess that's what moving on is like. You can't forget the past but you can't live in it either.
I am nervous but excited to begin my new semester. I love learning, and in spite of all the work involved do enjoy school. I am also excited to see my classmates again and continue my journey towards becoming an occupational therapist.
Well, that's all I can come up with for the time being. Perhaps I will have more interesting news to report next week, after classes have began.
Blessings,
Veronica

I Love To Read
If you didn't already know, I'm kind of an introvert. I love hanging out and working with people but my favorite thing to do is to curl up with a good book.
My favorite thing to read is romance. Not just any romance though. I love to read inspirational romance. Also known as Christian fiction. Specifically I like to read Harlequin's Love Inspired Books.
Though I like other forms of romance, there are several reasons I like inspirational romance better:
1. The focus on characters attributes are not on physical attractiveness or sex appeal.
-I don't know about you but I do not focus on a person's physical attributes when I interact with them. I love people for who they are on the inside, as cliche as that may sound, and I expect nothing less from the books I read. Unfortuanately, more often then not, general romance focus's on attractiveness and you are left with appealing but shallow characters.
2. Love or hate the book, I usually learn something.
-This is not to say that inspirational romance is preachy. Some of the books I have read have been preachy but this tends to be the exception rather than the rule. If you are not Christian or have a problem with people talking about God consistently you will probably feel that all the books are preachy but I don't usually feel they are.
Most of the Christian teachings that can be found in the book relate directly to scripture and can be applied to most denominations of Christianity. These are teachings about things like strength and resiliency.
3. I love how inexpensive the books are.
-These books only run about $5.50 a piece new.
I am a poor college student and have not bought a new inspirational romance book in years but the inexpensive starting price makes for an even more inexpensive retail price. On Ebay you can often purchase the books in lots and it comes down to paying only about $0.50-$2.00 a book depending on the seller.

4. The quality of the writing.
-Despite the books inexpensive price, the books are quite good. There are some authors who can write better than others and there are some authors whom I cannot stand their writing style but overall the writing is high quality.
5. Happy Endings.
-Okay, so all romances tend to have happy endings but that is one of the draws of reading these books. You aren't left crying at the end because of all the bad things that the characters never resolved. In my opinion that makes for good reading.
I'll be done gushing for now about how much I love these books but I'm sure I will come back to it sometime in the future.
